Chris Eyer - History Educator

Hi there! My name is Chris Eyer, and I am a senior at Appalachian State University majoring in History, Secondary Social Studies Education. This website will provide samples of some of my work developing course curriculum, my philosophy of teaching, and my resume.
A little about me: I was originally born in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, but  I have spent most of my life in Mooresville, North Carolina. I claim Mooresville and North Carolina as my home, I attended Mooresville Senior High School and stayed local to complete my Associate's Degree from Mitchell Community College. My time at both Mitchell and App State have taught me to think critically about the world around me, to constantly challenge and push myself, these institutions have done well to shape me to be an informed and active citizen with a greater perspective of history. Outside of history my main two hobbies and interests include basketball and chess. I have spent several years as a basketball coach since graduating high school, working as the head coach of a middle school team, and a youth camp counselor for the NBA Organization Charlotte Hornets. I am a chess novice but love the challenge of improving at such a historic and difficult game. I hope to eventually get to a point where I can work/volunteer at a local chess center or even a school I teach at in order to help introduce the game to young people.
